Andrea Fast Artworks
Artist/Owner
Denver, Colorado
Andrea grew up in the small mountain town of Black Hawk in Colorado. Having always shown an interest in the arts, she was more than ready to get out of Black Hawk to make her way in the world.  On a whim she moved to Albuquerque to attend the University of New Mexico.  Although she had a great interest in the arts it didn’t seem like a viable career option, so she pursued and received a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Fine Art.  Instead of attending a graduate school for psychology,

Andrea attended the International institute for Chinese Medicine to pursue a degree in acupuncture and herbology. However the school eventually ended up going bankrupt. Feeling that life is too short to not pursue her passion, Andrea decided to return to art school. She reenrolled at UNM and audited as many classes as she could, eventually settling on small, sculptural, silver casting as a specialty. Upon completion of classes, Andrea moved back to Colorado to start her own business.

Although finding success in sales Andrea’s older casting equipment began to fail and would have too expensive to replace. Completely frustrated in her studio, Andrea picked up her brushes and paint and hasn’t looked back. She currently works in Denver, producing colorful acrylic paintings centered around the female form, that natural world, spirituality, yoga, Ayurvedic and other healing modalities. When she paints, her feelings tend to reflect the subjects of her art. Sometimes elated, and sometimes physically bound and emotionally constrained. These feelings are also mirrored in her yoga practice, which is another of Andrea's passions that informs her work. Whatever the feeling being brought out, it reflects in art as well as life, and helps her to change, grow, and move closer to the goal of peace.
